Paper version Vs Digital version

Since the start of the 2023 school year, we have been developing a specific interface for digital versions. You can choose either paper + digital books or only the digital version. Students will receive a specific login to consult their digital version online. Each digital version will be personalized and viewable by the student who received the version.

Before choosing a strictly digital version, we would like to give you some food for thought. Paper remains the solution with the lowest environmental and human impact.

Paper:
   - 2.45 % of total pulp production is used for books.
   - 75 % of the paper used is recycled paper.
   - The paper comes from bamboo plantations specific to the low input use.
   - The social chain for paper is better controlled than for tablets.

Tablets and computers:
   - Overexploitation of rare earths: for example, 8.5 t of rock must be purified to extract 1 kg of Vanadium (alloys).
   - Human and social sector with little control. Extraction of raw materials by exploited miners and manufacturing of tablets in factories with insufficient social framework.
   - High energy cost of data storage on computer servers + battery recharging.

Carbon footprint of home delivery

To limit the environmental impact of individual book distribution, PPC has partnered with Bpost/Actives Ants, a company committed to sustainable development.
The entire book stock is located 15 km north of Brussels. Depending on orders, books are transported by electric vehicles to sorting centres and then to individual customers. Bpost/Actives Ants’ goal is to achieve zero emissions within the next few years.
